Who are we?
Redland School Now is a rapidly expanding group of concerned Bristol parents who
do not wish to see the new Redland school project derailed and who are keen to
see it open, on schedule, in September 2006.
This website has been created in response to the frequently asked question:
‘What’s going on?’ People know they will be greatly affected by the new Redland school
and want to fully understand all the issues. Very many have been in
'blissful ignorance', thinking that the school is 'in the bag' and have not felt
the need to comment.
We are concerned about the amount of misinformation which has been circulated.
We would like to make the facts easily accessible to those who will be affected.
In spite of the LibDems and the Labour party now declaring their full support
for the Redland option, the debate has a highly politicised past. We are concerned that the priority
should be balancing the educational needs of the whole of North Bristol (and not
just Stoke Bishop.)
We feel there is a need to redress the balance of the debate.
Strength of feeling amongst parents in Redland, Westbury Park, Henleaze and
Bishopston about the need for a school for North Bristol is obviously very great
and we are now making our voices heard much more clearly. This is something we
shall continue to do at all stages of bringing the new school to fruition.
